Attendance

In the performing arts being a part of a class is a responsibility. It is impossible for your performer to progress if they are not in class. When a student misses class they fall behind and special time needs to be taken to catch them up with the rest of the group. Each member of the class relies on each other to show up and put forward their best effort and dance performances only work when every student is prepared.

Attendance Policy

Students may miss THREE class periods per semester (August-December, January-May) in order to participate in the performance or to be considered for advancement. Two tardies equals one absence. Two observation days equals one absence. A student who misses 4 consecutive classes will be dismissed from the class, no exceptions. Students will not be allowed to participate in class if more than 15 minutes late. If a student is injured they are still expected to come and observe class to ensure they don't fall behind.

Excused absences are for things such as illness, family emergencies, or school obligations.  If a student is injured they are still expected to come and observe class to ensure they don't fall behind.

April and May are "blackout" months. Students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED not to miss class during this time as we are preparing for the end-of-year concert.

Academy, Company, Competition, and MDT performers will be required to sign an additional attendance policy to be permitted into those levels. The additional policy outlines rules for dancers who miss choreography and cleaning rehearsals. Additionally, Academy and Company dancers will need to attend mandatory make-up classes once their allotted attendance has been reached. Make-up lessons are $25 and will be scheduled according to teacher availability.

To excuse a performer from class, parents must call the studio's front desk (801-415-4135) BEFORE class starts to inform the front desk of the absence.

We appreciate your cooperation as we strive to deliver the highest quality education possible for your performer.

*Attendance policy is not applicable for summer classes
